Welcome to Pinkpeas!

Pinkpeas Pregnancy and Parenting Care Center is a privately-owned, family-centered, community-based pregnancy and parenting care group.

Pinkpeas Pregnancy and Parenting Care Center is a privately-owned, family-centered, community-based pregnancy and parenting care group. We are a group of midwives, doulas, childbirth educators, lactation educators, and other facilitators who provide complete pregnancy, birth, and parenting care to families who are “healthy and low risk.” Our website is our place to introduce ourselves to our future clients, and to participate in the global conversation about reproduction and parenting. Thank you for visiting!

Our name – in short, Pinkpeas are baby toes. Baby toes look like little pink peas in a pod. The longer answer is that Pinkpeas is an umbrella name for all of us who share essentially the same client base. We refer to each other, and we promote community among the families we work with.

Our core providers – Corrine, Maggie, Ranni, Sara, Amie, Kate, Lindsay, and Alexia do primary client care. Corrine, Maggie and Ranni are midwives; Amie, Lindsay, Alexia, and Kate administrate the groups that meet in our office. We all participate in prenatal care and facilitate Midwife Circles. Among our many hats, some of us are La Leche League Leaders, lactation consultants, childbirth educators and doulas.  We also have, within our group, at least one massage therapist, a Natural Family Planning instructor,  and an infant massage instructor.  Ranni speaks Spanish, and Amie speaks French.

Our faith – We all are both Christian, followers of our Lord, Jesus Christ, and married, and we are all very happy to let our husbands be the heads of our families. We will never ask you or anyone else to share our beliefs or conform to our standard, but we also do not apologize or work particularly hard to be politically correct or to use “inclusive” language. We respect that you are an adult, and free to make your own life choices.

Our bias – Finally, we all are extremely biased when it comes to breastfeeding, the importance of the mother-baby bond, and educated consumerism – or that YOU are responsible for educating yourself (or not), making the best pregnancy, birth and parenting choices you can make (or not), and living with the consequences of your choices. Nobody is perfect, including your doctor or midwife – if you are expecting perfection, or looking for someone to guarantee perfection or to blame when perfection is not achieved, you probably will not feel at home with us. I have a lot more to say about this, but will make that a separate blog post.

The Pinkpeas umbrella loosely extends over many other group and service providers, and over the community of families we serve. If you participate in any of our classes, groups, activities or services, you may say that you are a part of the “Pinkpeas Family”. Here are some, but I am sure not all, of the classes, groups, activities, services and interests represented by our extended “family”;  Breastfeeding, Movie Nights, Book Club, CPR & First Aid, Scrapbooking, Needle Crafts, Preschool & Homeschool Support, Playgroups, Nutrition, Menu Planning, Family Budgeting/Tightwadding, Infant Massage, Cloth Diapering, Elimination Communication, Baby Sign Language, Natural Family Planning, Home Economics & Fun, Emergency Preparedness, Toddler and Tandem Mothering, Mothering Multiples, Single Moms, Working Moms, First Time Moms, Cesarean Information & Support, Baby Wearing, Attachment Parenting, Pregnancy Loss, Postpartum Depression, English as a Second Language for Moms, Kids Crafts, Story time …and much more!
